Beating My First 2D Metroid Game
Now That’s What I Call a Remake
I’ve dabbled here and there with the 2D Metroid games, but usually get frustrated and give up midway through - which is strange because I love metroidvanias. But the 2D Metroid games play very differently than Ori and the Blind Forest, Symphony of the Night, and even Hollow Knight.
All that changed in July 2025, when I had finally beaten my first 2D Metroid game - Metroid Zero Mission.
Metroid: Zero Mission had me HOOKED. The pacing was very snappy and addictive (with one exception mentioned twice now) and the bosses were very challenging, but fun to figure out. There were quite a few times where I couldn’t quite figure out where to go or what to do, and I debated on breaking out a guide. But eventually I figured things out and felt like such a badass afterward.
After playing this, I’m really excited to check out the rest of the series.
